Blog 2 - Question 5
This is the natural B-12 supplement that I use. I use it daily for energy and stress relief. It contains no allergens, and contains 1mg of a high quality B12. Plus it is sublingual, which aids in absorption. In comparison to conventional OTC B complex supplements, I think it does a better job of getting the B vitamins into my system. I can definitely tell a difference in my energy levels when I take it.
This is my special mood probiotic which helps has certain types of good bacteria in it which have been proven to increase neurotransmitter production in the gut, thus helping with stress relief and mood. Many of the OTC probiotics aren't coated to make it pass the acid in the digestive system, but these pills are made to pass through to the small intestines, thus making them more bioavailable. I take these daily and it helps me in a variety of ways, not just with my mood but also my regularity in going to the bathroom (TMI?). I never noticed any kind of benefit from buying cheap OTC probiotics, and I came to the conclusion that they were pretty much worthless.
This is a special form of B6, actually the precursor to B6, which I found out I was somewhat deficient in after having routine bloodwork done. My doctor suggested I take a B6 supplement, but I did research online and found out that you need a high quality, highly absorbable P5P to get the most benefit. This is one of the newer supplements I've bought, but it is certainly meeting my expectations. It's a little pricey, but worth it.
Thanks for sharing these photos, and love all the info. Before blogging began, I believe you mentioned using both Zicam and Ricola as two natural brands. If that's still the case, can you tell me what symptoms you use each for, if you use them alongside conventional products, and if they're meeting your expectations?
ReplyDeleteAlso see some follow-up questions for you on Questions 3 & 4. Thank you!
Yes, I do use Ricola and Zicam. I love the Ricola Honey Lemon drops for a sore throat or cough. I usually only these for that issue, no other brands.
ReplyDeleteZicam Rapidmelts I used back in December when I had fever and chills and probably a touch of the flu. I ended up using all the rapid melts, but it did seem to help shorten the life of whatever I had.
Thanks for adding in the additional details for this blog!
DeleteQuick follow up: Why Ricola and Zicam vs. more traditional (non-natural) OTC products? When do you use more traditional (non-natural) OTC products, and how do you trade off between them and natural products in that category? I'm trying to get a sense for if/when you have to go to the traditional stuff and why? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI definitely go to the tradition OTC stuff if the natural stuff doesn't seem to be working... like with a severe cold or flu or a bad upset stomach. I try to go the natural route at first, but if the medicine doesn't seem to be working after a few hours, I will switch to the stronger over the counter products. Zicam tends to help with less severe colds for me.
DeleteHi Nathan, not sure you're still checking your blog, but I'm doing my analysis and have another question for you. How do you end up with brands like Solgar, Innovation Labs and NOW?
