Blog 4 - Question 4
a. Claritin - I hear Claritin is a lifesaver for many who suffer from severe allergies, so I don't know how well a natural version of Claritin would be received by it's die hard fans. I do think that offering a more natural, lighter version of Claritin may be beneficial, as I'm sure there are herbal supplements they could use in place of some of the chemicals in the normal brand.
b. Aleve - I don't know that Aleve could bring much to the party for natural OTC medication. There is, however, something to be said for natural pain relievers so maybe they could make a venture into natural holistic versions of their products. I don't use Aleve often so I'm not too familiar with their brands.
c. One-A-Day - I definitely think one a day could offer more holistic, natural vitamins. I've done a lot of research on the benefits of natural, more bioavailable vitamins versus regular vitamins, and I will always choose a more natural vitamin when I can.
d. Advil - Like Aleve, I don't know they Advil could bring too much to the party. I know there is probably many natural pain relievers and anti-inflammatories that Advil could incorporate into their medicine. I'm not sure they want people to know, however, that it isn't good to take medicine like Advil and Aleve on a regular basis and holistic remedies are much more effective in the long term.
e. Centrum - Much like One A Day I think vitamins are an easily suited for more all natural, more effective products. I think they could keep their same standard OTC products, but introduce a Centrum Elite brand that is more potent and more bioavailable and natural. I would purchase this product.
f. Robitussin - The first thing that comes to my mind in making a more natural Robitussin is to take out the artificial coloring and flavoring in their products. That would have an appeal to me and I'm sure a few other more holistically inclined consumers who think the coloring of their liquid is a little too artificial, even though I do take Robitussin on occasion for severe cough.
g. Tylenol - I believe Tylenol could take a lot of the artificial colors and flavors out of many of their liquid drinks to be more 'natural'. They don't have to completely change their formula, but adding a few more natural ingredients would be a good start.
